Jim Tavare

"The natural heir to the Tommy Cooper Fez" The Independent

RADA trained Jim Tavaré, first came to prominence in his Perrier nominated Edinburgh show, 'Masterclass'. From which, he was invited to appear at The Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. Jim was asked back the following year and appeared in a Gala show with Milton Berle and Bill Hicks. This caught the attention of NBC producers in the US and an episode of the long running comedy series Wings was written around Jims act. He wrote and starred in six short 10 minute films for BBC2 called Jim Tavaré Pictures Presents... They were miniature silent movies where Bassie (his infamous double bass) came to life each week. This was followed by his very own comedy sketch series The Jim Tavaré Show. He co-wrote the 13- part series with Ricky Gervais who also starred. Jim has performed three times at The Royal Variety Performance. He performed at Prince Charle's private Christmas party. He laterappeared in front of Her Majesty The Queen and 13 Heads Of State at a Gala held at Highgrove, in aid of the King of Greeces Birthday. Jim is renowned for his proud title of being Prince Charles’ favourite comedian. In 2001 Steve Coogans production company invited Jim to be part of The Sketch Show team on ITV. The first series packed with over 30 sketches, the programme went on to win a BAFTA. The show subsequently syndicated worldwide. There followed a cameo as Tom the Innkeeper in ’Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’. Jim featured in Season 6 of NBC’s Last Comic Standing where he was voted the 4th finalist. He can currently be seen appearing at venues across the USA on the 63 date 'Last Comic Standing Live Tour'.
