Brendan Dempsey

Brendan Dempsey
"…something of a revelation.… side-splitting scorn... extremely funny.… Dempsey is a name that could be up in lights soon."
SCOTLAND ON SUNDAY

The start of the year saw Brendan on the tellybox in the cult* children's TV series The Revenge Files of Alistair Fury playing Alistairs Dad - Sean Fury - on the BBC1. When not gigging around the UK, Brendan can be found performing in the far and middle east, standing up in front of - and sometimes to - audiences as far afield as South Africa and beyond. He shall be seen again in the next series of The Comedy Store for the Paramount comedy channel.

"Comic Gold. One of the best written shows on the fringe."
EDINBURGH EVENING NEWS

Besides Edinburgh, Brendan has been invited to play festivals in Montreal, Melbourne, Adelaide, Kansas, Finland and numerous times to Kilkenny. He's played throughout Europe, across America, and all over Britain, going from city to town to attempted village in a variety of venues from the Comedy Store London, to The Nant-y-finn Motel, Llandissilio.

"His sharp Genial wit should see his solo stand up career take off in the next year."
THE HERALD

As well as The Comedy Store, Brendans stand-up has been broadcast on the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, and RTE (Just for Laughs). Notwithstanding, Brendan's abilities as an actor are in increasing demand since starring in both record breaking West End Runs of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Film credits include Gangs of New York, the hit comedy Waking Ned (Devine), About Adam, and for television, Podge & Rodge, and the Father Ted Christmas special. [FULL CV AVAILABLE ON REQUEST]

"Intelligent and witty observational comedy
... absolute class. More please!"
IRISH NEWS, BRUSSELS

Brendan was awarded a REMI for his directorial debut Barking Mad at the Houston Worldfest. In the space of one year, he was hired as a writer and/or performer on seven different radio series for the Irish national Broadcaster RTE.

"Twenty minutes into Sunday's edition and you were wondering which of them came up with the idea for this piece of tricksy radio. It wouldn't have worked on any other medium … this was a wonderfully worked spoof."
THE SUNDAY TRIBUNE

"... very funny with a really nice casual nature, so his jokes sneak up on you and hit you hard"
